Summer 2015 - 31st August

Day 39

The inevitable has happened and the last day is here. Not going away this summer has made the holiday seem lovely and long. In addition my garden has a lot of attention and I have also been able to sit in the garden and enjoy the blooms. I have had lovely days out with friends and family. I have also finished two crafty projects: Bollywood Top and Wizadora.

Here is one last look around my garden this summer, it can be compared with Day One.

The Patio

This is largely still a mess due to our building work - however there are some pretty areas.
This green shelving unit will be going into my new craft room soon - but I have enjoyed it here this summer.

The Cool Bed

This area is where the buddleia was and still needs some attention but in it now are: a hebe, hellebores (from my friend), a hydrangea, heather, penstemons and an aster.

My woodland glade!

The shed with the climbers climbing.

End of the cool bed.

Mero Star bursting forth.

Middle of the cool bed.

Not many blooms left now.

This bit still looks flowery.

The Shady Bed

The shady bed is probably my favourite bit right now.

The Shady Bed extension - still blooming well.

The Decking

Very pleased with this - I think the plants have added a superb touch.

I would like to thank for Janet at Yellow Pink and Sparkly for following me right through my marathon of blog posts this summer.

Hopefully I'll be able to post again before half term and I have enjoyed keeping this diary throughout the summer holiday.

Keep crafting and gardening everyone:) x

Summer 2015 - 30th August

Day 38

Well it seems I miscalculated back in July and day 38 is not the last day - I have day 39 too - although it's a Bank Holiday so may be that's why I didn't count it.

Crafty News today............

I finished the lovely Wizadora and it fits perfectly. (I will write up my notes soon).

I hardly used up any yarn - only the purple went into the second ball, as you would expect with all that ribbing.

So what will I do with the leftovers - well I have a plan for a crocheted bag with a denim lining, but first I shall be sticking with Marie Wallin designs and embarking upon my version of Eos.

Summer 2015 - 29th August

Day 37

Just a couple of garden pics today. I planted 3 plants my friend gave me yesterday from her garden.

Red dahlia in the Cool Bed - hmm - well it is nearly autumn so I'll let it stay.

Patio shelf display still blooming well.

Summer 2015 - 28th August

Day 36

I went for a lovely walk with a lovely friend today, she took me across the fields and meadows to a 15th Century church and a pub for lunch.

We picked the day earlier in the week and it was perfect weather.

In the church we met a lovely lady doing the flowers and stopped for a chat.

I love teasels:)

We ended the day by wandering around Ingatestone shops - so quaint (and a bit too expensive if I'm honest) but it was nice to browse.

Summer 2015 - 27th August

Day 35

Today I made Little Miss Sunshine - well sort of - it was my friend's little girl's craft kit. It took a while but it all turned out well in the end.

Little Miss Sunshine

However the sunshine was not out later when I popped out to Lakeside Shopping Centre.

A big rainbow and then a very stormy sky. Should be sunny tomorrow then "Red sky at night - shepherd's delight!"

Summer 2015 - 26th August

Day 34

A very soggy suburbia today:( At least we can be sure it will be sunny next week when school re-opens.

My garden however is benefiting from the rain.

Summer 2015 - 25th August

Day 33

Rainy day in London - so went with my friend and her little lad to the Natural History Museum, the best displays are the old ones:)

I spent many a school holiday at the Kensington Museums when my boys were little and I have to say the new displays were disappointing.Too many video screens and reading - not enough action.

They should have got some parents and teachers involved in the new designs. Today the old ones were the best.

Summer 2015 - 24th August

Day 32

Bit of a drippy day today - non-stop rain! Got lots of work done as a result.

Still the garden was looking good:)

The hibiscus is now in full bloom.

A spiky new dahlia is on the way to full bloom.

Cerise pink is the order of the day here.

Aerial view of the shady bed - looking lush.

Summer 2015 - 23rd August

Day 31

Today my eldest turned 23 on the 23rd! Time flies!

I turned my attention today to creating a string frame for my climbers - I hope they survive the manhandling.

The rose has a lot of new growth - so I didn't want to leave this task any longer.

The jasmine and the clematis now have room to thrive - I hope they do.

I have been adding bamboo support to my dahlias, but I like to keep the stakes hidden if possible.

My pansies on the patio are so cute:)

Summer 2015 - 22nd August

Day 30

I took my aunty to a very pretty little part of Essex today called the Paper Mill Lock. It is the first time we've managed to go there on a sunny day, but sadly the wasps did join us:(

Anyway after refreshment at the tea room, we headed off down the riverbank for a mooch.

This is as far as we could get safely as the path became too narrow for the wheelchair.
It was a lovely "hot" afternoon.
